- According to a study published in the September 2010 print issue of Pediatrics, “Household Cleaning Product-Related Injuries Treated in US Emergency Departments in 1990-2006,” an estimated 267,269 children ages 5 years and younger were treated for injuries caused by common household cleaning products. Bleach was the No. 1 product associated with injuries. Injuries resulted from a variety of cleaning products including ammonia, dishwasher soap, bleach, toilet bowl products, abrasive cleaners, drain cleaners, swimming pool chemicals, laundry detergents, room deodorizers and general-purpose cleaners.
- On average, an American household generates approximately 25 lbs. of household hazardous waste per year!
